Background

Prior to 1980, the process of land acquisition for development projects of the Federal Government was undertaken by the State Governments. However, the process took a long time and affected the planning and development of the projects undertaken by the Central Government. The Federal Government took the initiative to help state governments, especially on the process of land acquisition for Federal projects. The Special Mobile Unit (UKB) was then established on March 12, 1978, as requested by the Jawatankuasa Kemajuan Tadbiran Negara. In April 1994, the name of the unit was replaced to the Land Acquisition Unit (UPT) in accordance with the tasks and goals stipulated. The Headquaters of Department Of Director General Of Land And Mines (Federal) located in Putrajaya will received the application submission of land acquisition from the Ministry/ Department (KJP). The application submission will be vet through by the The Land Acquisition Section (SPT) and then forwarded to the Department Of Director General Of Land And Mines (State) respectively.

Since 2010, the application of land acquisition must be submitted directly to the Department Of Director General Of Land And Mines (State) and send a copy of application submission to The Land Acquisition Section (SPT), Department Of Director General Of Land And Mines (Federal) in order to speed up the time frame of the land acquisition process. However, this action is excluded for the application of land acquisition for Johor, Sabah and Sarawak state as the process of land acquisition in those state are managed by the Land Administrator respectively.

The application of land acquisition must be made through an online system – MyeTaPP which was commenced on Mac 2012. The Ministry/ Department (KJP) must submit the application letter and application online slip together with Search Title and Land Acquisition Plan to the Department Of Director General Of Land And Mines (State) respectively and a copy of the document to the Department Of Director General Of Land And Mines (Federal) within fourteen (14) days from the date of online application been made.
